A Poem about being a PARENT.
Parenthood is a really interesting thing; it keeps you off balance, an array of emotions it often brings.
For me, it took me from being a boy to a man, although initially it wasn’t a part of the plan….
But when I first looked into the light of my firstborn’s eyes, I was taken aback with a pleasant surprise; The awareness that I would move mountains, sail the seven seas, give the very last of my very essence, just to insure the happiness and prosperity of this tiny little blessing!
She gave me purpose, a reason for being; until that MOMENT, that kind of joy I had never seen or felt.
To be a father is the greatest calling a man could receive; the unbridled fulfillment of it goes far beyond what the mind can conceive.
And as I became a parent 5 times over, that feeling of purpose and joy never diminished; indeed, for the rest of my days I’ll NEVER be finished.
My children are greater than any treasure I could ever obtain; to even compare any other riches would be absolutely insane!
With every challenge comes wisdom; to watch them grow and navigate this thing called life is it’s own reward. My heart swells with pride as they continue to move forward.
Everything in my life that is true and good comes from the wonderful, marvelous, exciting blessing of parenthood.
